1-Nitro-2-naphthyl trifluoromethanesulfonate (1.61 g, 5 mmol), N-(tert-butoxycarbonyl)ethylenediamine (0.80 g, 5 mmol), potassium carbonate (0.69 g, 5 mmol), and toluene (20 mL) were mixed, and the mixture was refluxed by heating for 16 hours. This reaction mixture was added with water, the mixture was extracted with ethyl acetate, and the organic layer was washed with saturated brine, and dried over anhydrous sodium sulfate. The solvent was evaporated under reduced pressure to give yellow crystals, and the crystals were washed twice with hexane (20 mL) to obtain the title compound (1.50 g, yield 91%) as yellow crystals.
