A suspension of 4-(3-oxopyrrolidin-1-yl)-pyridine-2-carboxylic acid phenylamide (130 mg, 0.46 mmol) and dimethylformamide dimethylacetal (0.12 mL, 0.90 mmol) in 1,4-dioxane (2 ml) was heated under nitrogen at 100° C. for 4.5 h. The solvent was removed in vacuo and the residue was purified by chromatography on silica gel (25 g) eluted with dichloromethane:methanol 19:1 and gave the title compound (95 mg, 0.28 mmol, yield 61%).
