6.0 M Potassium hydroxide in water (0.50 mL, 3.0 mmol) was added to a solution of 6-bromo-2-[2-(3,5-dimethoxyphenyl)ethyl]-5-(phenylsulfonyl)-5H-pyrrolo[2,3-b]pyrazine (0.5 g, 0.9952 mmol) (from Example 1, Step 4) in THF (10 mL) and then the mixture was stirred at 70° C. for 3 hours. Most of the solvent was removed and the residue was treated with saturated ammonium chloride. The formed precipitate was filtered, washed with water, and dried to provide the desired product (0.34 g, 94%). LCMS calculated for C16H17BrN3O (M+H)+: m/z=362.0. Found 362.0.
