Procedure
To a solution of 4-chloro-N-(2,5-dichlorophenyl)-N-[1(R)-methyl-(3-hydroxy)-propyl]benzene-sulfonamide (1.40 g, 3.40 mmol), triphenylphosphine (0.900 g, 3.40 mmol) and imidazole (0.230 g, 3.40 mmol) in diethyl ether/CH3CN (2:1, 7.0 mL) was added iodine (0.860 g, 3.40 mmol) at 0° C. under nitrogen and stirred for 12 h. The solvent was removed, the residue was taken into CH2Cl2, washed with water, dried over Na2SO4 and filtered. The organic solution was concentrated to afford the title compound as a light yellow oil in 96% yield.
