Procedure

Pure 14-methyl-bicyclo[10.3.0]pentadec-1(12)-ene (C) was also prepared as follows: 0.53 g of the above 10:1 mixture of compounds C and D were heated during 4 h 1/2 in the presence of 0.02 g of iodine, under argon atmosphere. After distillation of the reaction mixture (b.p. 100°-110° /0.01 Torr) there were isolated 0.48 g (92% yield) of the desired compound.
