By the method of Preparation 7, 2-(p-methoxybenzyl)acrylic acid (3.84 gm., 20 mmoles) was reacted with thiobenzoic acid to yield the title product in essentially quantitative yield [6.61 gm.; Rf 0.48 (ether)].
