Procedure
N-Boc-leucyl-Nδ-Boc-Nα-methylornithine 2-naphthylamide was treated with TFA at 25° C. for 30 min. The solution was concentrated in vacuo and the residue purified by reverse phase HPLC (Amberchrome—CH3CN/0.1% TFA—H2O). The desired fraction was lyophilized to give titled product: 1H NMR (400 MHz, D2O) δ1.0-1.1 (m, 6H), 1.7-1.9 (m, 5H), 2.0-2.2 (m, 2H), 3.1-3.3 (m, 5H), 4.6-4.7 (m, 1H), 5.1-5.2 (m, 1H), 7.5-7.7 (m, 3H), and 7.9-8.1 (m, 4H); mass spectrum, m/e 384 (M+), 271, 241, 194, and 129.
