Procedure
The reaction was carried out in a manner similar to Example 1 except for using 0.42 g (1.21 mmol) of ethyl 1-methyl-7-(3-phenylpropionamido)-2-indolecarboxylate, 2.31 g (24.2 mmols) of guanidine hydrochloride and a solution of 1.31 g (24.2 mmols) of sodium methoxide in 30 ml of methanol. 1-Methyl-7-(3-phenylpropionamido)-2-indoloylguanidine hydrochloride was obtained in an amount of 0.16 g (34.9%).
