Reaction Steps
A solution of the product from step (a) (18.5 g) in methanol (1 L) and 2N HCl (150 ml) was stirred at room temperature for 2 hours and concentrated in vacuo. Water (500 ml) was added and the product was collected by filtration and dried (16.7 g).
