800 mg of 6-[[2-mercapto-1-(4-methylphenyl)-1H-benzimidazol-6-yl]oxy]hexanoic acid methyl ester was dissolved in 8 ml of N,N-dimethylformamide, mixed with 0.3 ml of benzylbromide, 438 mg of potassium hydrogen carbonate and 75 mg of dicyclohexano-18-crown-6, and the mixture was stirred for 15 hours at 20° C. It was filtered, and the filtrate was concentrated by evaporation in a vacuum. The residue was purified by column chromatography on silica gel. 976 mg was obtained.
