Procedure
A solution of 4-amino-2-chloro-5-cyanopyrimidine (8.0 g, 52 mmol) and sulphanilyl fluoride (9.07 g, 52 mmol) in NMP (155 ml) was heated at 120° C. for 24 hours. The mixture was allowed to cool and was diluted with water. The resulting precipitate was collected by filtration, washed with water and dried under vacuum at 60° C. for 2 hours. The crude product was recrystallized from ethyl acetate/hexane to give the title compound (5.45 g, 37%). NMR: 7.70 (s, 24H), 7.93 (d, 2H), 8.15 (d, 2H), 8.45 (s, 1H); m/z: 292 (MH)+.
