Reaction Steps
A solution of 4-(2-azidoethyl)benzonitrile (2.0 g, 11.62 mmol) in EtOH (50 ml) at 0° C. was saturated with HCl(g). Reaction mixture was allowed to warm to room temperature and stirred overnight. Concentration of the crude reaction mixture gave ethyl 4-(2-azidoethyl)benzenecarboximidoate which was used without further purification.
