A mixture of 35 parts of 4-fluoro-N-(4-fluorophenyl)benzenamine, 107 parts of 4-chlorobutanoyl chloride and 130 parts of methylbenzene was stirred for 2 hours at reflux temperature. The reaction mixture was washed with a sodium chloride solution, dried, filtered and evaporated. The residue was distilled to remove the excess of 4-chlorobutanoyl chloride, yielding 47 parts (95.0%) of 4-chloro-N,N-bis(4-fluorophenyl)butanamide as a residue (int. 69).
