Powdered potassium carbonate (4.5 g) was added to a solution of 2-(3-butyloxyphenyl)ethylamine (4.12 g) in acetonitrile (55 cm3). A solution of 3-cyclohexylacryloyl chloride (3.66 g) in acetonitrile (20 cm3) was added dropwise over fifteen minutes and the reaction mixture was then stirred at room temperature for 2 hours. Following treatment with distilled water (75 cm3) and SVM (3 cm3), a white precipitate was formed. This was filtered off and sucked dry to give the product (3.76 g) m.p. 67°-71° C.
