0.88 g. Ammonium salt of 1-(1-benzylpyrrolidin-3-yl)-methane-1,1-diphosphonic acid (see Example 1 e) is dissolved in 30 ml. water and hydrogenated in the presence of 0.7 g. palladium on charcoal at ambient temperature and normal pressure. After ending of the hydrogen take up, the catalyst is filtered off with suction, the filtrate is evaporated and the residue is treated with acetone. After suction filtration, there is obtained 0.44 g. (65% of theory) of the amorphous ammonium salt x 1 mole water, Mrel : 0.47.
