A suspension of 2(6-formamidopyridin-2-yl)-2-methoxyiminoacetic acid (1.5 g.) and conc. hydrochloric acid (0.77 g.) in methanol (30 ml.) was stirred at room temperature for 45 minutes. After concentrating the resultant solution under reduced pressure, the residue was washed with diethyl ether. The precipitates were collected by filtration to give 2-(6-aminopyridin-2-yl)-2-methoxyiminoacetic acid hydrochloride (1.63 g.), mp 100° to 105° C.
