Reaction Steps
n-[1-(4-Chlorophenyl)propyl]-3-(imidazol-1-yl)propylamine (13.9 g, free base of Example 30) was added in portions to formic acid (11.75 g, 98-100%) at 0° C. Formaldehyde (9.6 g, 37%) was added and the mixture heated at 95° C. for 6 hours. Work-up as described in Example 90 gave N-[1-(4-chlorophenyl)propyl]-3-(imidazol-1-yl)-N-methylpropylamine as an oil which was not distilled.
