A mixture of 3-(4-piperidinyl)-1H-indazole (3.2 g, 16 mmol), 1-[4-(4-bromobutoxy)-3-methoxyphenyl]ethanone (5.0 g, 16 mmol), K2CO3 (2.2 g) and acetonitrile (100 ml) was stirred and refluxed for 6 hours. The reaction was poured into water and the resulting yellow solid that formed was collected to afford 5.3 g of product. The compound was recrystallized from acetonitrile and then from ethyl acetate to yield 3.0 g (45%) of a slightly yellow solid of 1-[4-[4-[4-(1H-indazol-3-yl)-1-piperidinyll-butoxy]-3-methoxyphenyl]ethanone, m.p.=133°-135° C.
