7-(4-Fluorophenyl)-4,5-dihydro-5-methyl-4-oxo-6-thiazolo[5,4-c]pyridinecarboxylic acid ethyl ester obtained in Step 3 was subjected to hydrolysis in 70% H2SO4 at temperatures ranging from 120° to 130° C. to give the above-titled compound as colorless crystals.
