A suspension of 0.80 g (2.69 mmol) of 1-cyclopropyl-6,7,8-trifluoro-1,4-dihydro-5-methyl-4-oxo-3-quinolinecarboxylic acid, 1.08 g (10.8 mmol) of 2-methylpiperazine, and 20 mL of acetonitrile was refluxed for 3 hours, then cooled in an ice bath. The precipitate was collected, washed with water and acetonitrile, and dried in vacuo to give 0.76 g of the title compound, mp 187°-188° C.
