N-Methyl-2-nitro-5-[2-(1H-1,2,4-triazol-1-ylmethyl)-4-(trifluoromethyl)phenoxy]aniline (1.0 g) from Example 63 was dissolved in acetic acid (10 ml), followed by gradual addition of zinc powder (830 mg) at room temperature. After the addition, ethyl acetate was added to filter off insoluble matetials, and to the filtrate was added saturated sodium hydrogen carbonate solution carefully for separation. The organic layer was washed with saturated sodium chloride solution, and dried over anhydrous sodium sulfate. After removal of the solvent under reduced pressure, 2-methylamino-4-[2-(1H-1,2,4-triazol-1-ylmethyl)-4-(trifluoromethyl)phenoxy]aniline was obtained as the crude product (920 mg).
