Procedure
18.3 g (0.0805 mol) of 2-[(2,6-dinitrophenyl)amino]ethanol in a solution containing 144 g of stannous chloride dihydrate in 146 ml of a concentrated hydrochloric acid solution are heated at 80° C. in an oil bath for 15 minutes. The reaction mixture is cooled in an ice bath, 460 ml of a concentrated sodium hydroxide solution are slowly added and then extraction is carried out three times with dichloromethane. The organic phases are combined, are dried and evaporated to dryness.
