Thereafter, the nitro compound was added to 300 ml of isopropyl alcohol with the addition of 30 ml of water and 3 g of ammonium chloride followed by reflux for 2 hours with the addition of 30 g of reducing iron and then the reflux liquid was filtered and the solid precipitated upon cooling the filtrate was filtered to obtain 4.2 g of 1-(2'-hydroxymethylbenzoyl)-2-(p-aminophenyl)hydrazine.
