Reaction Steps
A solution of potassium hydroxide (0.5 g) in methanol (5 ml) was added to a solution of thiochroman-4-one (0.93 g) and 5-methyl-1-(triphenylmethyl)-1H-imidazole-4-carboxaldehyde (2 g) in methanol (25 ml), and the resulting solution was stirred at 50° for 3.5 h. The resultant precipitate was filtered off, washed with methanol (20 ml) and dried to give the title compound (2.1 g), m.p. 225°-226°.
