Procedure

75 parts of castor oil-β-naphthol oxethylation product (b) are reacted with 5.2 parts of maleic anhydride, and thereafter with 6.7 parts of anhydrous sodium sulfite in 125.3 parts of water. The amount of water added can vary between 50 and 80% by weight of the final solution.
