A solution of 3-acetylamino-8-benzyl-6-propylpyrimido[4,5-e][1,3,4]thiadiazine-5,7(6H,8H)dione (4.0 g) in dioxane (50 ml) was refluxed for one hour. The reaction mixture was concentrated to dryness, and the concentrate was dissolved in methanol. Insoluble sulfur was filtered off. To the filtrate was added a small volume of water, which was left standing for cooling, then colorless crystals (3.4 g), m.p. 108°-110° C., were obtained.
