Procedure

To a mixture of 1.0g of S-methyl-N-nitroisothiourea and 15ml of acetonitrile was dropwise added 0.61g of pyrrolidine within 2 minutes, followed by stirring for 30 minutes. The reaction mixture was concentrated. The resulting precipitate was washed with ethyl ether to afford 1.09g of 1-(N-nitroamidino)pyrrolidine as white crystals.
