Procedure

13.8 g of racemic 1-amino-2-undecanol (obtained from reaction of decanal with nitromethane in presence of KF followed bysilylation of nitroalcohol and reduction with LAH) and 6.5 g of ethylene carbonate were heated at approximately 110° C. for 48 hours. The progress of the reaction was followed by tlc. The reaction mixture was worked up as under Example 1 to give 12.74 g (81%) of solid, m.p. 83°-85° C.
