A solution of α-tetralone (50 ml), dodecyl aniline (80 g) and benzene (150 ml) was refluxed in the presence of molecular sieve (100 g) with continuous removal of water. The crude product was crystallized from ethanol to give N-(1,2,3,4-tetrahydronaphthylidene) aniline (XXVI). XXVI had a melting point of 53° C.
