Reaction Steps

A mixture of 5.6 g (15.7 mmol) of the above pyrimidine acid and 5.0 g (31 mmol) of carbonyldiimidazole in 100 ml tetrahydrofuran is stirred at 50° C. for 1/2 hr and at room temperature for 2 hrs. The mixture is filtered and the solids washed with ether and dried in vacuo affording 4.75 g of the title imidazolide.
