Compound [VIII] (1.20 g, 1.62 mmol) was hydrogenated in CH3OH and 0.1N HCl with 10% PdC. by the procedure used for [A]. Purification by Sephadex LH-20 column chromatography with 15% EtOH/toluene as the eluant produced 0.386 g (47%) of [A] as a colorless solid: NMR (CD3OD) δ 1.17-1.87 (m, 26 H), 2.07 (s, 3 H), 2.30-2.55 (m, 4 H), 2.90 (t, 2 H, J=6), 3.43-3.70 (m, 6 H).
