As in Example 134, a solution of (E)-5,5-bis-(3-methoxyphenyl)-2,4-pentadienoic acid 4-nitrophenyl ester 1.73 and alpha,alpha-dimethyl-3-pyridinebutanamine (0.9 mL) in tetrahydrofuran (20 mL) was stirred for 30 hours at reflux and, after the usual work up, the product was crystallized from ethyl acetate-hexane to afford 1.6 g of (E)-5,5-bis(3-methoxyphenyl)-N-[1,1-dimethyl-4-(3-pyridinyl)butyl]-2,4-pentadienamide mp 120°-121° C. Anal. Calculated for C30H34N2O3 : C, 76.57; H, 7.28; N, 5.95 Found: C, 76.67; H, 7.44; N, 5.88.
