As in Example 134, a solution of (E)-5,5-bis(4-chlorophenyl)-2,4-pentadienoic acid 4-nitrophenyl ester (6.35 g) and 3-pyridinebutanamine (2.7 g) in tetrahydrofuran (75 mL) was stirred for 2 hours at 25° C. and was worked up in the usual fashion. The crude material was purified by HPLC (ethyl acetate) and then crystallized from ethyl acetate-hexane to give 5.3 g of (E)-5,5-bis(4-chlorophenyl)-N-[4-(3-pyridinyl)butyl]-2,4-pentadienamide mp 146°-147° C. Anal. Calculated for C26H24Cl2N2O: C, 69.18; H, 5.36; Cl, 15.71; N, 6.21 Found: C, 69.00; H, 5,57; Cl, 15.71; N, 6.21.
