Procedure

Using procedure described in Example 36, the lithium salt of 4-(3-pyridylmethyl)-benzonitrile is treated with 1-chloro-4-iodobutane and the intermediate cyclized to obtain 1-(4-cyanophenyl)-1-(3-pyridyl)-cyclopentane.
