Procedure
2,2-Diethoxyethylamine (23.3 grams), 2-bromomethyl-1,3-dioxolane (29.2 grams), triethylamine (25 ml) and toluene (150 ml) were charged into a glass reaction vessel equipped with a mechanical stirrer, thermometer and reflux condenser. The reaction mixture was heated at reflux overnight. After this time the mixture was cooled and filtered. The filtrate was then distilled under reduced pressure to yield the desired product N-(2,2-diethoxyethyl)-N-(1,3-dioxolan-2-ylmethyl)amine having a boiling point of 125° C at 0.1 mm of Hg pressure.
