Procedure
A solution of 0.77 g tert.butyl hexahydro-2(2-methanesulfonyloxyethyl)-2-methyl-3-oxo-1H-pyrazolo[1,2-a]-pyridazine-5-carboxylate (diastereomer A) in 20 ml of acetone was treated with 0.3 g of sodium iodide and 0.23 g of potassium thioacetate. The mixture was then stirred at room temperature for 24 hours and subsequently evaporated. After chromatography of the residue on silica gel, there was obtained 0.43 g (59%) of tert.butyl hexahydro-2-(2-acetylthioethyl)-2-methyl-3-oxo-1H-pyrazolo[1,2-a]pyridazine-5-carboxylate (diastereomer A) in the form of an oil.
