In a similar manner to the preparation of 18, compound 20 was obtained from 4′-(2,3-epoxy-propoxy)-4-methoxy-chalcone, 13 (1.3 g, 4.2 mmol) and 1-phenyl piperazine (0.64 mL, 4.2 mmol) in dry methanol (120 mL). Yield 1.4 g (70%); mp 165-167° C.; MS (FAB) 473 (M++1); IR (KBr) 3392, 1652; 1H NMR (200 MHz, CDCl3) δ 8.03 (d, J=8.8 Hz, 2H), 7.78 (d, J=15.6 Hz, 1H), 7.60 (d, J=8.6 Hz, 2H), 7.42 (d, J=15.5 Hz, 1H), 7.31-7.24 (m, 2H), 7.01 (d, J=8.7 Hz, 2H), 6.94 (d, J=8.7 Hz, 2H), 6.96-6.84 (m, 3H), 4.19-4.09 (m, 3H), 3.86 (s, 3H), 3.24 (t, J=4.9 Hz, 4H), 2.89-2.84 (m, 2H), 2.74-2.64 (m, 4H).
