Procedure
22 g of resorcinol, 20 ml of formaldehyde solution (37% by volume in water), 0.014 g of Na2CO3 and 82 ml of H2O are stirred at room temperature to give a resorcinol/formaldehyde sol and subsequently aged for 5 days. E-Spheres™ hollow spheres having grain sizes of from 20 to 200 μm were mixed with the aged RF sol in a proportion of 30% by volume in a mixer and dried at 40° C. with exclusion of air. The measured thermal conductivity had a value of 0.27 Wm−1K−1.
