To a solution of N-[2-(dimethylamino)ethyl]-2,2,2-trifluoro-N-[(3-nitrophenyl)methyl]acetamide (204 mg, 0.64 mmol) in 2-propanol (15 mL) was added 10% palladium on carbon (20 mg). The reaction was stirred at rt under a hydrogen atmosphere (1 atm) for 17 h. The reaction mixture was filtered through Celite, adsorbed to silica, and purified by column chromatography to generate the title compound in 62% yield (115 mg, 0.40 mmol). 1H NMR (400 MHz, CDCl3): δ 7.10 (t, J=7.6 Hz, 1H), 6.68-6.70 (m, 2H), 6.58 (d, J=7.9 Hz, 1H), 3.76 (s, 2H), 2.75 (t, J=6.0 Hz, 2H), 2.49 (t, J=6.0 Hz, 2H), 2.24 (s, 6H). MS (ESI) m/z=290 [M+H]+.
