The sulfinamide 1200-C (1.3 g) was dissolved in 40 mL of methanol and treated with 10 mL of 4M HCl solution in dioxane. The mixture was stirred for about 30 min until all the starting material had been consumed as determined by TLC (20% acetone in dichloromethane/hexanes, 1:1). The mixture was evaporated to dryness. Dichloromethane was added (15 mL) to make a cloudy solution. Upon addition of 100 mL of ether a white precipitated formed. The product 1200-D (1.02 g; 98%) was recovered by filtration using filter paper whatman #1.
