2-(1,3-dihydroxypropan-2-yl)-5-nitroisoquinolin-1(2H)-one (1.2 g, 0.0045 mol) was stirred with palladium 10% wt. on calcium carbonate (0.1 g, 0.0005 mol) in methanol (100 mL, 2 mol) under hydrogen (balloon) over 1 hr at room temperature. The catalyst was filtered, the filtrate was concentrated to dryness gave light green oil. MS m/z=235.0 (M+1).
