To a solution of 2-(4-chloro-2-hydroxy-phenoxy)-1-[4-(4-fluoro-benzyl)-(2R,5S)-2,5-dimethyl-piperazin-1-yl]-ethanone (0.30 g, 0.75 mmol) and bromo-acetic acid methyl ester (0.14 mL, 1.5 mmol) in dioxane (3 mL) was added cesium carbonate (0.50 g, 1.5 mmol). The resulting mixture was stirred at ambient temperature overnight. The reaction was quenched with water and the mixture was extracted with ethyl acetate. The organic layer was washed with brine, dried over magnesium sulfate and concentrated in vacuo to give the title compound (0.61 g).
