Procedure

2-(2-(1-Benzyl-4-piperazinyl)ethyl)-5-methyl-1,2-dihydroimidazo[1,5-c]imidazol-3-one (0.22 g) obtained in Example 97b), 1 N hydrochloric acid (1 ml) and 10% palladium carbon (74 mg) were added to methanol (10 ml), and mixed under hydrogen atmosphere at room temperature for 3 days. The catalyst was filtered off, and the filtrate was concentrated under reduced pressure. The residue was dissolved in a small amount of water, and the reaction mixture was basified with potassium carbonate and extracted with ethyl acetate. The extract was dried over anhydrous magnesium sulfate, and the solvent was distilled off under reduced pressure to obtain the title compound (0.10 g, 63%).
