Reaction Steps
By substituting an equivalent amount of methanesulfonic anhydride for p-toluenesulfonic anhydride of Example 18, benzyl 3-methanesulfonyloxy-1-azabicyclo[3.2.0]hept-2-en-7-one-2-carboxylate is obtained. Hydrogenolysis of this material by the method described in Example 19 affords sodium 3-methanesulfonyloxy-1-azabicyclo[3.2.0]hept-2-en-7-one-2-carboxylate.
