Procedure
To a mixture of 1 ml of 47% hydrobromic acid and 1 ml of acetic acid was added 267 mg of 1-(4-methoxyphenyl)-3-(3-pyridyl)-2-pyrazolin-5-one and stirred under reflux for 6 hours. After distilling off the solvent, water and aqueous NaHCO3 solution were added to the residue to adjust the pH value to 4 and extraction was made using ethyl acetate. After drying and concentrating the organic layer, the residue was recrystallized from ethanol to obtain 162 mg of Compound No. 10 as colorless crystals.
