Procedure
20 g of 1-[2-(benzhydryloxy)ethyl]-4-[2-(phthalimido)ethyl]piperazine and 200 ml of tetrahydrofuran were placed in a reactor. A solution of 20.4 g of Na2S.9H2O in 80 ml of water was added dropwise at 0° C. After decantation, the solvents were evaporated off. The solid was taken up in 50 ml of water and 100 ml of methylene chloride. After the solution had cooled, the pH was adjusted to 3.7 and extraction was carried out with 2 times 50 ml of methylene chloride. After drying, the solvents were evaporated off to give 17 g of a solid (m.p.=45° C.) of the empirical formula: C29H33N3O4.
