Procedure

2-Methylthio-2-imidazoline sulfate (2:1) (1.98 g) and 2-hydroxyethylhydrazine (2.12 g) are heated in ethanol (3 ml) at reflux for 1 hr., then stirred at 25° C. for 3 hr. The solution was diluted with ethanol (20 ml) and kept at 4° C. for 18 hr. The crystals which separated were filtered out and washed with ethanol. Weight 811 mg, mp 190°-4° C.
