Reaction Steps
Using the procedure outlined in Example 1, phenanthro[2,3-b]thiophene-7-carbaldehyde (24A) and 2-amino-2-methyl-1,3-propanediol (Aldrich) gave a 71.2% yield of 2-methyl-2-[[(phenanthro[2,3-b]thiophen-7-yl)methyl]amino]-1,3-propanediol methanesulsonate, mp 212°-215° (EtOH/Et2O), (C,H,N,S).
