6-(4-Acetylthiosemicarbazido)-1-butyl-3-propylpyrimidine-2,4(1H,3H)-dione (6.0 g) was heated in dimethylformamide (DMF) (60 ml) at 110°-120° C. for 60 hours. The reaction mixture was concentrated to dryness to give a crystalline product, which were recrystallized from aqueous methanol to afford colorless crystals (4.4 g, 61%),
