A solution of ethyl 5-chloro-2-[(chloroacetyl)amino]-6-[(2,2-dimethylpropanoyl)amino]nicotinate (EXAMPLE 24, Step 1, 6.55 g) in t-butyl alcohol (150 mL) was refluxed for 42 h. The formed precipitate was collected by filtration and washed with ethyl acetate to afford 1.28 g (29%) of the title compound as a pale purple solid.
